Autism Friendly Session.

Early morning visitors were invited to the museum for an autism friendly session at Manchester Museum. Alan Birch brought his portable press in and families drew from museum objects before transforming these into relief and intaglio prints. Participants made great use of having the museum to themselves, and produced some great work.

Helmshore Summer Craft Fair

Prospect Printmakers showed their work at Helmshore Textile Museum in late June, showcasing the work of over 10 members work. The prints on display included etchings, drypoints, lino cuts , mono prints and collographs complimented by a range of cards. The day was bust with Stacksteads band entertaining visitors.

Silent Auction and Talk

Printmakers Chris and Loraine Waites will be discussing their practice at Bury Art Gallery this Saturday 6th July. They have attending classes for over 25 years and have their own studio in their garden. They have organised a silent auction with sales going towards local charities. See below for details.

GCSE Printmaking

Over 70 GCSE and A level  students from Ambrose Barlow RC HIGH School in Salford spent a day producing engravings and relief prints to enhance their coursework. Working with tutor Bernadette Furey and printmaker Alan Birch the students used a variety of techniques including chine colle to hopefully improve their grades.

Saintly prints.

Alan Birch worked with asylum seekers at Manchester Museum, introducing them to the world of printmaking. The group who have been following a course at the museum, with the intention of finding employment, produced some excellent work based on Alans work of contemporary saints.

Ramsbottom Relief prints

Alan Birch ran a relief printing course for Bury Adult Education at Ramsbottom Library. The artists , many who had not printed for many years if at all , produced some excellent work. Hopefully other workshops will take place in the summer term. Watch out for details.
