Venetian prints
Year 5 pupils at Walmsley Primary School in Bolton, spent a day working with print maker Alan Birch. Pupils had been been looking at the painting of the Stonemason’s Yard by Canaletto, currently hanging in the National Gallery. Alan showed pupils etching plates and examples of his own work before the pupils produced pencil sketches and engravings of Venetian buildings and landmarks depicted in the work of the Venetian master.
