Alan Birch

Visitors to the Whitworth were offered the opportunity to produce their own engravings based on the theme of Strange Ways to meet Death. Artist Alan Birch who has produced a series of 50 etchings illustrating bizarre ways people have met their ends. Over 30 people took part, ranging from care workers, artists and complete beginners. Alan Showed his work and presented people with starting points, before they embarked on their prints. The whole day at the Whitworth was given over to a conference on the Art of Dying.
