Coffee, Cake and Culture
Residents from Ratcliffe Care home, spent an enjoyable day at the Whitworth in Manchester, printing with Alan Birch. Using the work of MIchael Brennan Wood, residents suffering from Dementia, explored the colours and the shapes of the piece, drawing shapes. These drawings were used to cut out shapes from textured wallpapers which were then printed onto paper. For many visitors this was their first visit to the Whitworth, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, especially in the cafe.
