African masks.
Year 1 pupils from Twelve Apostles primary school in Leigh , spent a creative morning with printmaker Alan Birch. To enhance their work on Africa, children looked at the theme of African masks, using textured wallpapers and card to create their own masks. Once pupils cut out their shapes from wallpaper, they inked these and then added them to pre cut templates.
Their work was excellent
‘The children in year one thoroughly enjoyed working with Alan creating African masks using printing techniques. They produced some wonderful art work and it was lovely to focus on art for a full morning – Alan carefully linked the art work to their topic on Kenya.
We will definitely be booking a printing workshop with Alan next year.’
