Mill farm girls visit Smithy

The sculpture at Mill Farm Adventure Play Centre, Kirkby, Liverpool.

A new piece of public art was installed in July 2009 at Mill Farm Adventure Play Centre in Kirkby, Liverpool. The sculpture commissioned by Knowsley Arts and Heritage Service supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, resulted from a series of workshop with girls from the centre. The workshops, using  the theme of local history explored printmaking, drawing and sculpture , from which a series of design features were produced. The chosen piece, resulting from consultation at the centre was fabricated by Luke Lister in Stockport, which the girls visited to see a demonstration of blacksmithing skills.
